Description

A delicious garlic butter beef dish perfect for serving over mashed potatoes, rice, or pasta.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 pounds Sirloin Steak or Chuck Roast (cut into bite-sized cubes)
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons Kosher Salt (or to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon Black Pepper
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons Garlic Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Paprika (not the hot one)
  • 3 Tablespoons Olive Oil (divided)
  • 1 large Sweet Onion (thinly sliced)
  • 1 cup Low Sodium Beef Broth
  • 1 ounce Au Jus Gravy Mix (packet)
  • 6 cloves Garlic (pressed)
  • 5 Tablespoons Unsalted Butter (sliced)
  • Chopped Fresh Parsley

Instructions

  1. Place the cubed meat into a large bowl and add the salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. Stir to combine.
  2. Add 2 Tablespoons of the olive oil and mix to coat all of the meat and further distribute the seasonings.
  3. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add the remaining 1 Tablespoon of olive oil and as many pieces of the meat that will comfortably fit. It’s okay if they touch a bit.
  4. Brown the meat in batches, flipping once to brown two sides, and add to the slow cooker.
  5. In the same skillet, add the sliced onion and cook, stirring occasionally, until they have a little color and just start to soften (about 5 minutes). Add a little more oil, if needed.
  6. Add the onion to the crockpot and mix the beef and onion together.
  7. In a small bowl, whisk together the beef broth and au jus mix.
  8. Press the garlic into the broth mixture and stir. Then pour it over the meat and onion and stir.
  9. Place the sliced butter over the top of the meat.
  10. Cover and cook on high for 3-4 hours or low for 6-8 hours. Stir every 60 minutes or so to allow all the meat a chance to braise in the garlic butter sauce.
  11. Serve over mashed potatoes, rice, or even pasta, and garnish with chopped fresh parsley.

Notes

  • Try to use a good quality broth for richer flavor.
  • You can adjust the cooking time based on your slow cooker.
  • Make sure to brown the meat properly for the best taste.
