Ingredients
Scale
- 3 cups Powdered Sugar
- 4 tbsp Milk
- 2 tbsp Light Corn Syrup
- 1 cup Butter, Softened
- 1 cup Sugar
- 1 Egg
- 1 cup Light Molasses
- 2 tbsp White Vinegar
- 5 cups Flour
- 1 1/2 tsp Baking Soda
- 1/2 tsp Salt
- 2 tsp Ground Ginger
- 1 tsp Ground Cinnamon
- 1 tsp Ground Cloves
Instructions
- Add softened butter and sugar to a large bowl and beat until well combined and fluffy.
- Add egg, molasses, and white vinegar and beat until well combined. The mixture will look curdled.
- In a separate medium size bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, salt, ground ginger, ground cinnamon, and ground cloves. Then pour into the wet batter and beat until well combined.
- Refrigerate dough covered for 1 hour.
- When the dough is done chilling, preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Working in sections, roll the dough to 1/2 inch thick on a floured countertop.
- Cut into snowflake shapes or Gingerbread Men Cookies!
- Place onto parchment paper lined baking sheet and bake for 9-11 minutes.
- Let cookies cool on the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a cooling rack.
- Repeat with remaining dough.
- Once cooled, make the icing by beating together powdered sugar, milk, and light corn syrup.
- The icing should be thick enough when it drips off the beaters and holds its shape for several seconds before dissolving back into the rest.
- If it’s too thick, add a little milk. If it’s too thin, add a little powdered sugar.
- Transfer to a piping bottle and draw desired designs onto the cookies.
