Description

Delicious chocolate chip cookie bars layered with sweetened condensed milk, chocolate, and Heath bars.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 7 oz sweetened condensed milk
  • 12 oz chocolate chips
  • 14 fun size Heath bars (chopped)
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 3/4 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350º F. Line a 9-inch square pan with parchment paper. Set aside.
  2. If making cookie dough, cream together the butter and both sugars for about 2 minutes until it is light and fluffy. Beat in the egg and vanilla until everything is really well incorporated.
  3. Mix in the flour, cornstarch, baking soda and salt until the flour just disappears. Fold in chocolate chips until evenly combined.
  4. Press about 2/3rds of the dough (approximately 2 cups) into the bottom of the prepared pan.
  5. Melt chocolate chips and sweetened condensed milk in the microwave together for 45 seconds. Stir until smooth and melted. Heat for an additional 15 seconds if needed.
  6. Spread melted chocolate over the cookie dough.
  7. Sprinkle crushed Heath bars over melted chocolate.
  8. Break small pieces of remaining dough, and sprinkle over the chocolate (approximately 1 1/2 cups). You will still see some chocolate peeking through, but it should mainly cover it.
  9. Bake for 25-30 minutes. The top should be set, and golden.
  10. Remove from oven, and let cool before serving.

Notes

  • For best results, allow the bars to cool completely before cutting.
  • Store in an airtight container to maintain freshness.
