Description

A deliciously indulgent grilled cheese sandwich filled with pulled pork, cheeses, and savory flavors.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups pulled pork, cooked and shredded
  • 4 slices sourdough bread
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 cup tangy barbecue sauce
  • 4 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/4 cup caramelized onions (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Pulled Pork: Mix the cooked and shredded pulled pork with the barbecue sauce. Ensure the pork is well-coated.

  2. Prepare the Bread: Spread 1 tablespoon of softened butter on one side of each slice of sourdough bread.

  3. Assemble the Sandwich: Lay two slices of bread, buttered side down. Sprinkle a portion of cheddar and mozzarella cheese on each slice. Add a layer of barbecue pulled pork. Optionally, add a layer of caramelized onions. Sprinkle more cheese over the pork layer. Top with the remaining bread slices, buttered side up.

  4. Cook the Sandwich: Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat and add the olive oil. Place the sandwiches in the skillet, cook until each side is golden brown and the cheese is melted, about 3-5 minutes per side.

  5. Serve: Remove from heat and let the sandwiches cool for a minute. Cut each sandwich in half and garnish with fresh parsley.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, try adding a slice of smoked gouda cheese.
  • Ensure the pulled pork is warm before assembling for faster cheese melting.
  • Use a panini press for an even cook and added convenience.
  • Experiment with different types of barbecue sauce to suit your taste preference.
