Description
A delicious combination of savory ham and sweet pineapple grilled to perfection.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ham, cut into 1-inch cubes
- 1 fresh pineapple, peeled, cored, and cut into 1-inch cubes
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- Wooden or metal skewers (if wooden, soak in water for 30 minutes before use)
Instructions
- Prepare Marinade: In a medium bowl, whisk together the brown sugar, soy sauce, olive oil, honey, garlic powder, and black pepper.
- Marinate Ingredients: Add the ham cubes to the marinade and stir to coat evenly. Allow them to marinate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours in the refrigerator.
- Prepare Skewers: Thread the marinated ham and pineapple cubes alternately onto the skewers. Each skewer should begin and end with a piece of ham.
- Preheat the Grill: Preheat your grill to medium-high heat, around 375°F to 400°F (190°C to 200°C).
- Grill the Skewers: Place the skewers on the grill. Cook for about 10-15 minutes, turning occasionally, until the ham is heated through and the pineapple has caramelized edges.
- Serve: Remove from the grill and allow to cool slightly. Serve warm.
Notes
- Variations: Add vegetables like bell peppers or red onions to the skewers for added flavor and color.
- Sauce Option: Serve with a dipping sauce such as sweet chili or additional honey for extra sweetness.
- Resting Time: Let the skewers rest for a couple of minutes before serving to allow flavors to meld.
- Grill Marks: To achieve nice grill marks, resist moving the skewers too frequently.
