Description

Delicious homemade churros coated in cinnamon sugar and served with caramel sauce.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (light)
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • Vegetable oil (for frying)
  • Sugar for coating (mixed with cinnamon)

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine 1 cup of water, melted butter, brown sugar, ground ginger, and cinnamon until melted. Bring to a gentle boil and remove from heat.
  2. In a bowl, mix together flour, baking powder, and a pinch of salt. Gradually incorporate the warm liquid mixture until a smooth dough forms.
  3. Allow the dough to cool slightly before adding eggs one at a time. Stir vigorously until fully integrated.
  4. In a deep pot or fryer, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Transfer dough to a piping bag fitted with a star tip; pipe small strips into hot oil (about 2 inches long) and fry until golden brown.
  6. Toss warm churros in cinnamon-sugar mixture and serve with caramel sauce for dipping.
