Description
Delicious homemade churros coated in cinnamon sugar and served with caramel sauce.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup brown sugar (light)
- 2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp ground ginger
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter (melted)
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp baking powder
- Vegetable oil (for frying)
- Sugar for coating (mixed with cinnamon)
Instructions
- In a saucepan over medium heat, combine 1 cup of water, melted butter, brown sugar, ground ginger, and cinnamon until melted. Bring to a gentle boil and remove from heat.
- In a bowl, mix together flour, baking powder, and a pinch of salt. Gradually incorporate the warm liquid mixture until a smooth dough forms.
- Allow the dough to cool slightly before adding eggs one at a time. Stir vigorously until fully integrated.
- In a deep pot or fryer, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).
- Transfer dough to a piping bag fitted with a star tip; pipe small strips into hot oil (about 2 inches long) and fry until golden brown.
- Toss warm churros in cinnamon-sugar mixture and serve with caramel sauce for dipping.
Notes
- Ensure the oil is hot enough before frying to achieve a crispy texture.
- Feel free to adjust the sugar and cinnamon coating to taste.
