Description
A refreshing and spicy orange chaat that blends sweet and savory flavors.
Ingredients
Scale
- 8–10 mini oranges
- 2 cloves garlic (peeled)
- 1 green chili (cut into pieces)
- ¼ cup cilantro (fresh coriander leaves)
- 2 tablespoons mint leaves
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon roasted cumin powder
- ½ teaspoon red chili powder
- ½ teaspoon black salt
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 tablespoon lime juice
Instructions
- Cut the oranges in half horizontally. Remove the peel completely. Gently remove excess white fibre (this prevents bitterness), then separate the segments carefully and set aside.
- Add garlic, green chilies, coriander, mint leaves, and salt to a mortar and pestle.
- Crush to make a coarse paste.
- Add the oranges to a large mixing bowl.
- Add the fresh green paste, roasted cumin powder, red chili powder, black salt, sugar, and lime juice, and mix everything well.
- Chill for 30 minutes before serving. Resting the orange chaat for a while brings out the flavors very well.
Notes
- This chaat is best served chilled to enhance the flavors.
- You can adjust the level of spiciness by varying the amount of green chili used.
- For an extra kick, consider adding a sprinkle of chaat masala before serving.
