Description

A refreshing and spicy orange chaat that blends sweet and savory flavors.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 810 mini oranges
  • 2 cloves garlic (peeled)
  • 1 green chili (cut into pieces)
  • ¼ cup cilantro (fresh coriander leaves)
  • 2 tablespoons mint leaves
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon roasted cumin powder
  • ½ teaspoon red chili powder
  • ½ teaspoon black salt
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice

Instructions

  1. Cut the oranges in half horizontally. Remove the peel completely. Gently remove excess white fibre (this prevents bitterness), then separate the segments carefully and set aside.
  2. Add garlic, green chilies, coriander, mint leaves, and salt to a mortar and pestle.
  3. Crush to make a coarse paste.
  4. Add the oranges to a large mixing bowl.
  5. Add the fresh green paste, roasted cumin powder, red chili powder, black salt, sugar, and lime juice, and mix everything well.
  6. Chill for 30 minutes before serving. Resting the orange chaat for a while brings out the flavors very well.

Notes

  • This chaat is best served chilled to enhance the flavors.
  • You can adjust the level of spiciness by varying the amount of green chili used.
  • For an extra kick, consider adding a sprinkle of chaat masala before serving.
