Delicious chocolate apple bars that are soft, sweet, and perfect for dessert or a snack.

- 6 tablespoons unsalted butter (melted)
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar (packed)
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
- 3/4 cup tart green apple (finely diced, peeled, about 1 Granny Smith)
- 1 teaspoon flour (for coating apples)
- 3/4 cup chocolate chips (dark, milk, or white)
- 2 tablespoons nut butter (optional)
- 1–2 teaspoons coconut oil (optional, to thin chocolate)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Line a 9×5 loaf pan with parchment paper, leaving overhang.
- Melt 6 tablespoons butter and whisk with 1/2 cup brown sugar and 1/4 cup granulated sugar until glossy.
- Whisk in 1 egg and 1 teaspoon vanilla until smooth.
- In a separate bowl, whisk 1 cup flour, 1/2 teaspoon baking powder, 1/4 teaspoon salt, and 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon if using.
- Toss 3/4 cup diced apple with 1 teaspoon flour to coat.
- Add dry ingredients to wet and fold gently. Fold in the flour-coated apples.
- Spread batter into prepared pan. Bake 22-28 minutes until edges are golden and center is set but soft.
- Cool completely before slicing into bars.
- For chocolate dip: Melt 3/4 cup chocolate with 2 tablespoons nut butter (if using) in 20-30 second bursts. Add coconut oil if too thick.
- Dip bars halfway in chocolate or spoon over tops. Sprinkle with sea salt if desired. Let set before serving.
Notes
- For an extra flavor, consider adding chopped nuts.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
