Description

Delicious candy-coated apples infused with the flavors of strawberry cream.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 fresh apples
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1015 strawberry cream hard candies, crushed
  • to taste red or pink food coloring (optional)
  • as needed wooden sticks

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Apples:
    • Wash and dry the apples thoroughly.
    • Insert wooden sticks into the stem end of each apple.
  2. Make the Candy Coating:
    • In a saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, and water. Stir over medium heat until the sugar dissolves.
    • Increase the heat to medium-high and bring the mixture to a boil.
    • Let it boil until it reaches 300°F (hard crack stage) on a candy thermometer.
    • Remove from heat and stir in heavy cream, unsalted butter, and vanilla extract carefully. If desired, add a few drops of red or pink food coloring for a richer color.
  3. Coat the Apples:
    • Working quickly, dip each apple into the hot candy mixture, turning to coat evenly.
    • Allow excess to drip off and then roll the apple in the crushed strawberry cream candies, pressing lightly to adhere.
  4. Set the Apples:
    • Place the coated apples on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
    • Let them cool completely until the candy coating is set.

Notes

  • Make sure the apples are completely dry before coating to ensure the candy adheres properly.
  • If the candy mixture hardens before all apples are coated, gently reheat it until it is back to a liquid state.
  • Use a silicone spatula to stir the candy mixture to prevent sticking.
  • Experiment with additional toppings like crushed nuts or sprinkles for added texture and flavor.
